SUMMARY:Cast
DESCRIPTION:.\n\n\nOriginally formed in 1992 from the ashes of two of the most legendary and lauded guitar bands of all time\, The La’s and Shack\, Cast released four albums\, the second ‘Mother Nature Calls’ also went platinum (three of them top 10)\, and had ten top 10 singles\, before disbanding in 2001. ‘All Change’ became the biggest selling debut album of all time for Polydor Records. After the band’s split\, John Power released three solo albums\, and played intermittently with the reformed La’s. \nA decade later in 2012\, the bands original line-up reunited with original producer John Leckie (Stone Roses\, Radiohead\, The Fall) for ‘Troubled Times’. The reinvigorated band produced an album full of the anthemic\, melodic and beautifully written songs for which they have always been loved by their fervent fanbase. \nWith Founding member Pete Wilkinson retiring form the band in 2013. John Power (guitar/vocals)\, Liam ‘Skin’ Tyson (lead guitar – also playing with Robert Plant) and Keith O’Neill (drums) were joined by former La’s member Jay Lewis on bass. \nAt the end of 2015 Cast celebrated the 20th anniversary of their classic album ‘All Change’\, with two sold out shows at the historic Liverpool Philharmonic Hall where they played the record in it’s entirety accompanied by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. \nThe bands Latest album ‘Kicking Up The Dust’ was released on 21st April 2017. The album\, Cast’s sixth studio album\, was recorded at The Motor Museum in Liverpool and was produced by resident studio legend – Alistair Groves. \nLabelled ‘The Who of the 90’s’\, Noel Gallagher once described watching Cast play live as “a religious experience.”

SUMMARY:Crash Test Dummies - 30th Anniversary God Shuffled His Feet Album Tour
DESCRIPTION:+ special guest: DAVE LOFTS\n\n\n\nCrash Test Dummies add Cork date to their mammoth 30th anniversary tour of Grammy nominated and platinum certified album ‘God Shuffled his Feet’. Lead single “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm “ Reached no.2 in the charts and the album holds a special place in the hearts of many. With several dates on the tour already sold out\, grab your tickets before it’s too late. \nThe band celebrate 30 years since the release of their 3 times-Grammy nominated and platinum certified album “God Shuffled His Feet”. \nIn 2018\, The Crash Test Dummies hit the road for the first time in 20 years with an Anniversary Tour that spanned North America. The overwhelming reception led to a 30th Anniversary Tour in 2022 for their debut release “The Ghosts That Haunt Me” that touched down in the US\, UK (including a London headline at the legendary Kentish Town Forum)\, Germany\, Austria\, the Netherlands\, Luxembourg\, and Canada. \n“Touring again was not something we’d planned on\, but surprisingly – at least to me – there are lots of people who many years later\, still want to come and hear us. The folks that are coming out to see these shows tell us their stories\, some of them very funny\, some very dark and all very personal. It’s very humbling\, being in the confidence of so many people” says lead singer-songwriter Brad Roberts\, “and it has inspired us to continue to tour and make music.”

SUMMARY:Staples Jr. Singers (support from Toshín)
DESCRIPTION:The Jr. singers are the Browns\, a family of ten who came of age in the ’60s in northeast Mississippi between the black prairie and the pines\n\n\nIt sometimes happens that a stone cold classic from a bygone era gets rediscovered. But how often does that rediscovery happen when the band is still around? And how often does it lead to a new album? That’s the surprising circumstance behind the Staples Jr. Singers’ long-awaited second album\, Searching (June 14). \nBack in 1975\, when the Staples Jr. Singers were just teenagers growing up in the small\, rural town of Aberdeen\, Mississippi\, they got to make a single record together\, one which\, because of its rarity\, became coveted by gospel soul collectors: When Do We Get Paid. They paid for the record themselves and pressed a few hundred copies\, selling most of them on their front lawn to their neighbors. \nFollowing Luaka Bop’s re-issue of When Do We Get Paid in 2022\, the Staples Jr. Singers finally had their time in the sun: The Guardian called their album “Powerful\,” The Boston Globe named it #7 Best Album of the Year\, and UNCUT (8/10) said that it was “music that deserves your attention.” And to make the response all the better\, the Staples Jrs. Singers were around to witness it. \nWho are the Staples Jr. Singers\, and why do they share a name with that other gospel group you might have heard of\, the ones who famously crossed over? \nThe Jr. singers are the Browns\, a family of ten who came of age in the ’60s in northeast Mississippi between the black prairie and the pines. Back then\, the South was desegregated on paper but not always in practice. Their parents found refuge and support in the church against the backdrop of an unwelcoming town (and nation)\, while their kids found refuge and a greater purpose in life in the music.

SUMMARY:Les Amazones D'Afrique
DESCRIPTION:The all-female African supergroup Les Amazones d’Afrique\, a collective which has included some of the biggest stars in African music\n\n\nThe all-female African supergroup Les Amazones d’Afrique\, a collective which has included some of the biggest stars in African music\, kickstart 2024 with their infectious new single\, ‘Flaws’. \nOpening with an in-your-face\, iconic 808 drumbeat ‘Flaws’ features Mamani Keïta and Fafa Ruffino on lead vocals with instantly memorable hooks and the deft pop production work of Jacknife Lee (U2\, Modest Mouse\, Taylor Swift). The track is taken from their forthcoming third album\, Musow Danse\, out 16 February 2024 on Real World Records. \n“The song has a simple message\,” explains Malian singer Mamani Keïta. “The perfect person does not exist. We all have our flaws and imperfections which we carry with us through life\, but there is beauty in imperfection\, and that’s what we want people to realise.” \n“Jacknife Lee took time to listen to each of our voices\,” says Fafa Ruffino\, from Benin. “He doesn’t understand the language but you can tell that he feels the emotion\, understands that our souls are deeply invested in our words. I feel like he entered our minds. What he did is more than musical. It is spiritual.” \nThe accompanying music video for ‘Flaws’ was directed by Zambian contemporary dance artist and choreographer Kennedy Junior Muntanga and sees Mamani Keïta team up with a group of teenage dancers full of charm and youthful energy from the ACE Dance and Music school in Birmingham\, England. The school’s mission is to promote dance through cultural exchange\, and they have been working for over 20 years as leaders in the field of contemporary African and Caribbean dance\, nurturing young talent from diverse backgrounds. The dancers truly encapsulate the song’s message of self-love and acceptance in a heart-warming performance filmed at ACE’s rehearsal studio.

DESCRIPTION:Jarjarjr is set to deliver an impassioned sermon of guttural rhymes to a blessed congregation at Live At St. Lukes.\n\n\nJarjarjr is set to deliver an impassioned sermon of guttural rhymes to a blessed congregation at Live At St. Lukes. \nJarjarjr first rose to online prominence around 2015\, during what some now consider a ‘golden era’ of Soundcloud beatmaking. With his stripes well and truly earned as an instrumentalist\, he went on to score production credits with some of Ireland’s premier rap exports: Kojaque and Malaki. \nWhat makes jarjarjr most interesting is that he’s not apt to ever stop looking for ways to perfect what he’s already developed and also to go beyond what he knows he can do. He is thoroughly involved with plunging as far into himself and the expressive possibilities of his music as he can.

Their new album\, released in January 2024\, was recorded and produced in Louisiana by multi-Grammy winner Dirk Powell who describes: “Listening to The OARS\, one gets drawn in first by the infectious rhythms and magnetic musical chemistry. He plays with a percussive style and harmonic variety that makes him stand out as a top-class player” – Ciaran Gribbin of INXS \n \nBrian Morrissey is a renowned banjo/bodhrán/whistle player and percussionist. He is a member of the ground-breaking groups Buille and TarantaCeltica and has performed and recorded with artists such as Donal Lunny\, John Spillane\, Kevin Crawford\, Jimmy Crowley\, Nathan Carter\, Luka Bloom\, and the late\, great Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin.
