SUMMARY:Birdsong & Irish Rewilding with Sean Roynane & Eoghan Daltun
DESCRIPTION:Sean Roynane (Nature Boy\, Birdsong) & Eoghan Daltun (An Irish Atlantic Rainforest) come together for a special one off live podcast.\n\n\nJoin us\, as part of Cork Podcast Festival\, for a very special live podcast with Sean Roynane & Eoghan Daltun. Prepare to hear soundscapes of birdsong like you have never heard before and a night of conversation around Irish nature and rewilding. \nSean Ronayne always knew he was different. Nicknamed ‘nature boy’ by the other kids\, as a child he struggled to fit in and regularly escaped to the woods and coastlines around his home in Cork. The natural world was his happy place and where he discovered his true passion – identifying and understanding birds through their sound and song. A passion that would save him in the weeks and months following a near-death experience in his late teens. Even in the darkest times\, nature became his guiding light. \nOn the Beara peninsula in West Cork\, a temperate rainforest flourishes. It is the life work of Eoghan Daltun\, who had a vision to rewild a 73-acre farm he bought\, moving there from Dublin with his family in 2009. In 2022 he released his book. ‘An Irish Atlantic Rainforest’ which charts that remarkable journey. Part memoir\, part environmental treatise\, as a wild forest bursts into life before our eyes\, we’re also invited to consider the burning issues of our time: climate breakdown\, ecological collapse\, and why our very survival as a species requires that we urgently\, and radically\, transform our relationship with nature. This is a story as much about doing nothing as taking action – allowing natural ecosystems to return and thrive without interference\, and in doing so heal an ailing planet. Powerfully descriptive\, lovingly told\, An Irish Atlantic Rainforest presents an enduring picture of the regenerative force of nature\, and how one Irishman let it happen. The two come together for an informative\, inspiring and insightful discussion of their equally heartfelt and enthralling personal journeys of a life established in nature.

SUMMARY:Mairtín O Connor Trio in Concert at Ballydehob Tradfest 2025
DESCRIPTION:Mairtín O Connor\, Cathal Hayden and Seamie O’Dowd will be performing with the Mairtín O Connor Trio at Ballydehob Tradfest 2025\n\n\nVirtuoso accordion player Máirtín O’Connor\, named Ireland’s 2015 Traditional Musician of the Year\,(TG4 Gradam Ceoil Awards)\, brings his remarkable trio to the Ballydehob Tradfest for the second time having performed to a sell-out audience at Ballydehob TradFest 2022. \n \nGalway virtuoso Máirtín O’Connor’s accordion playing and range of compositions have been dazzling audiences for over 30 years\,” proclaimed the Irish Examiner upon Máirtín’s award in February\, 2015. \n \nHe is joined by Séamie O’Dowd\, a defining member of Dervish for over a decade and a brilliant guitarist and singer\, and the astonishing fiddler and multi All-Ireland champion Cathal Hayden (Four Men and a Dog). \n \nIndividually recognized figureheads of the Irish tradition\, the trio has built a reputation for their astounding virtuosity and vitality. The trio will appear at the Diana Wortham Theatre in Asheville\, North Carolina and the Savannah Music Festival as well as other venues. \n \n“Irish traditional music’s own ‘power trio’\,” wrote Earle Hitchner in The Irish Echo. “These three mean business and achieve art. Bravo.” \n \nMáirtín O’Connor is one of the most respected and best-loved musicians ever to emerge from Ireland. One of the main musical forces behind the now legendary Riverdance phenomenon\, through his work with De Dannan\, Midnight Well and Skylark and also as a solo artist he has quite simply gone where no Irish accordion player had gone before. Born and raised in County Galway\, Máirtín began playing the accordion at the age of nine\, inspired by his paternal grandparents who both played the instrument. His music reflects traditional Irish music as well as the wonderful swing of the 1920s Flanagan Brothers\, Parisian musettes\, Cajun music and Eastern European tunes. His career has included recordings with Rod Stewart\, Elvis Costello\, Mark Knopfler\, the Waterboys (Fisherman’s Blues CD)\, Tanita Tikaram\, Townes Van Zandt\, and The Chieftains. \n \nWith Cathal and Seamie\, Máirtín’s trio redefines concepts of Irish music. They play with a rare vitality and virtuosity\, using sophisticated arrangements and elements of swing\, bluegrass\, and more. Their formidable musical relationship has lasted over a decade\, with two albums released: ‘Crossroads’ in 2009\, and 2012’s ‘Going Places’\, which features Australian guitar whiz Tommy Emmanuel—with whom the O’Connor Trio toured—on one tune. \n \n“The versatile trio have managed to bottle the essence of their dynamic live shows\, on their eclectic new album Crossroads\,” raved Siobhan Long in The Irish Times. \n \nThe Máirtín O’Connor Trio has recently been touring as the band for the great Irish singer Christy Moore. The trio also toured the U.S. for three seasons (2011-2014) as members of Martin Hayes’s Masters of Tradition\, drawing standing ovations for their dazzling sets in venues from Symphony Space to UCLA’s Royce Hall. The trio has toured extensively through Ireland\, Great Britain\, Europe\, and more recently in Australia and New Zealand.

SUMMARY:Ryan McMullan
DESCRIPTION:.\n\n\nWriting songs and then touring the world with them: that’s the dream for any singer songwriter. And for many years that was the dream that Ryan McMullan was chasing. The Portaferry native is blessed with a voice that can shift effortlessly between the ethereal and the guttural\, and a prodigious songwriting talent to match. Since the early days of his career he garnered significant attention from industry heavyweights\, including Ed Sheeran\, who called Ryan’s voice a ‘rare jewel’\, and Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol\, who likened his voice to that of an angel. From playing in stadiums supporting Ed Sheeran\, to a string of hit singles\, and selling out headline tours throughout the UK and Europe\, Ryan’s rise was nothing short of extraordinary. \nIn 2022\, just after lockdown\, Ryan was poised on the brink of stardom\, ready to release his debut album Redesign and embark on a world tour that would surely secure his place as an artist with real staying power. There was even a film made documenting the album-making process: Debut directed by award-winning filmmaker Brendan J. Byrne and shown at Galway Film Fleadh and on the BBC. \nBut suddenly Ryan had to cancel everything due to a severe mental health crisis. \nIn his own words: ‘When Covid hit\, I was left with a huge hole in my life. My identity felt like it had been taken from me and during that initial six-month period I felt imprisoned in my own home. But we were all in it together and that’s what I continued to tell myself to keep the demons at bay. In 2021\, we were allowed to tour again and this was my chance to start to put things right again within myself. Calling the tour The Margarita Tour probably tells you just how far away from putting things right I actually was\, and all of a sudden\, not only had I lost myself\, but I was running away and completely spiralling out of control. Then it came time to release the album\, something written an entire lifetime ago. I was spent and I knew it. \n‘At this point something had to give. And it did. I had my first ever panic attack while trying to say my wedding speech. I knew I couldn’t go through with releasing the album and touring. Running away hadn’t worked; I needed to face it and speak to someone. I spent the following six months in therapy and it turns out\, therapy really works\, because in 2023 I felt a shift occur. I knew I owed it to everyone to at least try. So that spring I decided to tour. I needed to know if I was really done. I owe a lot to the audiences that came to those shows\, because the truth is they brought me back around on this music thing. I felt an ownership and obligation to the debut album. I mean\, it had a documentary made about it! I sat down one night and listened to it front to back. Somehow this five year old\, out of time album that I felt had nothing to say for so long was speaking loud and proud. I listened to it through the week and it never diminished. It kept talking. The fog had lifted and it was time to pick up the phone and get back to work.’ \nThe version of Redesign that you hear today is down to a recalibration of Ryan’s sound and aesthetic\, but it also refers to a redesign of his mind\, too. There are undoubtedly some upbeat pop bangers on Redesign\, not least fan favourite ‘Bowie on the Radio’\, a song that Ryan holds dear to his own heart\, the gleeful canter of ‘Us’\, and the rousing ‘Real Love’\, a song that came about when Seán Óg Graham and Niamh Dunne of Northern Irish folk band Beoga invited Ryan to their studio in Portglenone\, Co. Antrim to write. The session went so well that Graham was soon installed as the producer of the new version of Redesign. \nThe sensitive side to Ryan’s songwriting is exposed in songs like ‘Flailing’\, which was written in an anxiety-riddled evening in front of the TV\, in ‘Monarch’\, written as a tribute to his mum after a falling-out\, and in ‘Episodes’\, a song containing the telling line\, ‘I feel like I’m drowning in all my famous friends. \nHaving already established himself as a talent to be reckoned with\, even bigger things await Ryan McMullan once Redesign is finally released on August 26th. Writing an album about love in its various forms – love for his family\, his new wife\, his friends or even his business associates – has aptly set the scene for an illustrious future\, and there is talk of how album number two will take another creative leap forward. \nLet’s leave the last word to Ryan himself: ‘So with all that said\, here comes an album\, an EP\, and then another album after that. And I’m only getting started. It’s good to be back. Thanks for your patience!’

SUMMARY:Bernard Butler.
DESCRIPTION:.\n\n\nBernard Butler is a Brit and Grammy Award winning musician. In 1989 he formed Suede releasing the Mercury winning debut “Suede”. The era-defining “Dog Man Star” was followed by his collaboration with David McAlmont on the anthem ”Yes”. Two solo albums on Creation yielded a Brit nomination before producing seminal releases by The Libertines\, Tricky\, Black Kids\, Kate Nash\, James Morrison\, Texas\, Mark Eitzel\, Paloma Faith and Duffy – spawning her Grammy and Brit Award winning debut Rockferry. \nHe has played guitar for Pet Shop Boys\, Bryan Ferry\, Roy Orbison\, Bert Jansch\, The Libertines\, Neneh Cherry\, Robert Plant and Ben Watt. Butler is Patron to the Bert Jansch Foundation and Generator NE and lectures in songwriting for the Abbey Road Institute. \nIn 2022 a collaboration with Jessie Buckley “For All Our Days That Tear The Heart” resulted in the shortlist to the 2022 Mercury Prize. \n‘Good Grief’ is the first new solo album in 25 years from songwriter and producer Bernard Butler. Between then and now\, Butler had ventured into the world of pop songwriting and producing\, including two seminal albums with folk musician Sam Lee\, a Mercury nominated project with actor Jessie Buckley as well as working with Bert Jansch and Ben Watt from Everything But The Girl\, The Libertines\, Tricky and an eight-million selling\, Grammy-winning record with Duffy. \nOf returning to solo work after two and a half decades\, Butler says ‘For a good while I was scarred and I was scared. I was happily distracted and joyously involved with so much music. I realised just being there was more than I had ever hoped for. I gave a lot to other people\, but realised that my story was defined but what I was\, rather than what I am. I set myself a modest commercial goal\, an expectant creative one: perform to 10 people without being bottled\, then find 11 the next night. Thus began the undoing of my own embarrassment. I would write as I thought and sing as I wrote until the bottles fly. And so\, the songs arrived.’ \nBernard booked himself into a rehearsal space in Holloway every Wednesday afternoon for months\, just him\, a guitar and a microphone. The first fruit of these sessions is the new single ‘Camber Sands’\, “For years and years I have drawn straight lines from North London to every coastline I could see. To life-worn Londoners escape is the dream and return most likely. The story I found was not the sea but the journey. Camber Sands\, Mersea Island\, Dunwich\, or a dozen more horizons of possibility\, the sea and the seawalls\, and the endless return to face the city. Camber Sands is a love song – we flee the past\, the present\, ourselves\, to survive\, to defy. The loneliest music of the resolute\, the half-light and the saddest tunes.’ \nRound circle shows with friends Norman Blake and James Grant across Scotland gave Butler the taste for venturing back out on stage\, and while writing with Jessie Buckley for the Mercury Prize nominated For All Our Days That Tear the Heart album\, Bernard tucked away his own discoveries and continued the journey once Buckley returned to the silver screen. Confronting his own songwriting process\, he wrote words down\, away from the security of his guitar\, before carving music around the lines. \n‘Good Grief’ finds Bernard Butler owning three decades of work\, free to perform\, bookended by wildly contrasting experiences of loss\, joy\, and bewilderment. The album is a journey from city to coast and back\, and between it\, an entire spectrum of human emotion.

SUMMARY:2025 Friday Day and Night-time Ticket - Borris House Festival
DESCRIPTION:Tickets holders for Friday will have access to approximately 30 talks or events across 5 stages – covering debates\, discussions\, performance\n\n\nTickets holders for Friday will have access to approximately 20 talks or events across 6 stages – covering debates\, discussions\, performances\, lectures\, interviews and readings. \nIt is a day that is traditionally full of energy and engagement\, and speakers have commented on the immediacy of the charms of the audiences at Borris on the opening day. As well as the afternoon and evening of talks\, the arrival of dusk brings with it a programme of beautifuly curated live music and irreverent comedy. \n \nThis tickets allows you to move freely from one talk to another\, but it may not guarantee you a seat in all of them – we operate a first-come-first-served seating policy in each auditorium\, but our overall capacity at the festival will ensure there is always a talk somewhere with room for you. \nBorris Festival is about experiencing a full day (or weekend) of many intruiging dialogues on diverse and jaw-dropping subjects – rather than visitng a single talk by a writer or speaker you want to hear – so we urge you to dive in. Be warned: due to the intimate capacity of this festival\, Friday tickets are likely to be sold out well in advance\, and no tickets will be available on the day. \nYour day pass is not transferrable to anyone else during the day\, and must be accompanied with your ID to access each talk. \n \nNOTE Refunds – with honest and emergency reasons only\, will be given until 10th March. You will loose the booking fee that Eventbrite automatically takes\, but get the rest back. After that\, your money is ours.

SUMMARY:Reggie Oh Lads Irish Tour 2025
DESCRIPTION:Reggie from the Blackrock Road is doing a Masters in Irish Mortification.\nGreat night of laughs guaranteed. You might even learn something.\n\n\nSorry!! \nWhy are Irish people so mortified in public? \nReggie from the Blackrock Road is on the case with his Masters in Irish Mortification \nIreland’s most beautifully spoken millionaire is asking the big questions. \nWhy do Irish people shout sorry at the waitress to get attention in a restaurant? \nAre we more confident now we’re rich\, like Dutch people with freckles. \nAnd given our history of low self-esteem\, how did Irish people end up with huge heads? \nGreat night of laughs guaranteed. You might even learn something.

SUMMARY:2025 Sunday All-Day Ticket - Borris House Festival of Writing & Ideas
DESCRIPTION:The third\, final\, and most informal of the three days – and many would say the best.\n\n\nTickets holders will have access to approximately 25 talks or events across 5 stages – covering debates\, discussions\, performances\, lectures\, interviews and readings. \nThis tickets allows you to move freely from one talk to another\, but it may not guarantee you a seat in all of them – we operate a first-come-first-served seating policy in each auditorium\, but our overall capacity at the festival will ensure there is always a talk somewhere with room for you. \nBorris Festival is about experiencing a full day (or weekend) of many intruiging dialogues on diverse and jaw-dropping subjects – rather than visitng a single talk by a writer or speaker you want to hear – so we urge you to dive in. \nSee www.festivalofwritingandideas.com for speaker announcements and other news. First names in the line-up will be released by early December\, and most in early March. \nPLEASE NOTE: Refunds – with a decent\, honest\, valid reason – will only accepted up unitil 10th March 2025. After that\, your money is ours.

SUMMARY:Paddy Casey
DESCRIPTION:.\n\n\n*** show rescheduled from May 30th. Original tickets remain valid *** \nHaving been at the forefront of the Irish music scene since his multi platinum selling debut album ‘Amen (So Be It)’\, Paddy Casey’s career has taken him all over the globe touring with acts like The Pretenders\, R.E.M\, Ian Brown\, Blondie and Tracy Chapman to name a few. Closer to home he has played all over Ireland\, including a sold out Dublin Castle\, RDS and a record-breaking week long run in The Olympia Theatre\, alongside special guest spots with U2\, Pearl Jam\, Bob Dylan and more. \nPaddy Casey’s hugely successful debut album ‘Amen (So Be It) achieved many international highlights including tracks being featured in hit television shows such as ‘Dawson’s Creek’ and ‘Roswell’ alongside extensive American and European tours. Further establishing himself as one of the country’s most successful artists\, his second album ‘Living’ went on to become one of the biggest ever selling albums in Ireland (approximately 15 times platinum). \nThis was followed by the release of ‘Addicted To Company\, Part 1’\, with this album seeing Paddy Casey continue to tour across America\, performing on The Late Show with David Letterman\, securing a week-long slot on MTV and even managing to have drinks with Beyonce and Jay Z along the way. After the release of this album Paddy Casey decided that it was time to part ways with his record label and go independent in order to let himself and his music veer off in any direction the wind carried them\, resulting in his first release ‘The Secret Life Of’ – a resounding success with the album reaching platinum status.
